Seinfeld is the legendary 90’s sitcom created by Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David. In 2019 it’s still rated among the most popular comedy TV shows worldwide. The jokes haven’t aged at all, despite all the transformations the world has gone through. This show was made in a time when technology didn’t dominate everyone’s lives like it does today. So if you want to know what life was like before smartphones hit the market, watch Seinfeld.
Most of all, Seinfeld can teach you what’s important in life. Of course the characters never seem to achieve happiness, but that’s the premise of a situation comedy show. So the lesson here is to not follow in their footsteps.
Seinfeld vs. Instagram
What Seinfeld perfectly captures is that life can be a pain in the ass sometimes. And that’s something everyone can identify with. In the age of social media it seems no one has ever bad luck. People post about their job promotions, how a certain holiday has enriched their lives, and whatnot. If you take Instagram as a source, you get a very misleading image of society.
Take the gif of George above, it takes courage to admit you’ve been unemployed for awhile and as such, had no choice to move back in with your parents. Most people won’t ‘(insta)gram’ this. The stigma is far too great. But the truth is, we all stumble across obstacles in life. It’s this that I want to address.
